Chris Wehrmann grew up in the Ruhr region and inherited his eye for painting from his grandmother. At 18, he won the ZDF Youth Painting Competition and travelled through China – an early indication of where art would take him.
Trained as a Graphic Designer, he now runs his own conceptual design office in Kaarst. His paintings pursue a sustained interest in figurative work: the diversity of nature, the human form in motion, and the interplay of light and shadow. His collages – analogue and digital – follow the same visual logic: layering existing material into something new, recontextualising it, giving it fresh meaning.
Since 2012, his work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Germany, the Netherlands, and Paris. In July 2026, he will be exhibiting in Berlin for the first time.
Chris Wehrmann is a member of the BBK – Bundesverband Bildender Künstler e.V. He lives and works in Kaarst, near Düsseldorf.
Chris Wehrmann wuchs im Ruhrgebiet auf und erbte den Blick fürs Malen von seiner Großmutter. Mit 18 Jahren gewann er den Jugend-Malwettbewerb des ZDF und reiste durch China – ein frühes Zeichen dafür, wohin die Kunst noch führen würde.
Ausgebildet als Grafik-Designer, leitet er heute sein eigenes konzeptionelles Designbüro in Kaarst. In seinen Gemälden verfolgt er ein ausgeprägtes Interesse an figurativer Arbeit: die Vielfalt der Natur, der menschliche Körper in Bewegung und Interaktion, das Spiel von Licht und Schatten. Seine Collagen – analog wie digital – folgen derselben visuellen Logik: vorhandenes Material neu zusammenzufügen, es zu transformieren und ihm eine neue Bedeutung zu geben.
Seit 2012 wurden seine Arbeiten in Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen in Deutschland, den Niederlanden und Paris gezeigt. Im Juli 2026 stellt er erstmalig in Berlin aus.
Chris Wehrmann ist Mitglied im BBK – Bundesverband Bildender Künstler e.V. Er lebt und arbeitet in Kaarst bei Düsseldorf.
