Chris Wehrmann was born in 1967 in Münsterland/Dorsten and he grew up in the Ruhr region in Gelsenkirchen. He inherited his talent for drawing and painting from his grandmother.

When he was 18, he won the ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen/German TV channel) Youth Painting Competition and travelled with other winners for three weeks across The People’s Republic of China. At the same time, he started gaining practical experiences in the theatre, dance (classical ballet and modern dance) and choreography.
After completing his training as a Graphic Designer and experiences in different advertising agencies, he now manages his own conceptual design office in Kaarst.

Since 2003 painting has taken on a major focus in Chris’ life, forming a clear interest in the figurative depiction: the diversity of nature in all its facets, the human form in motion and interaction, the impact of light and shadow, place a strong emphasis in his work.
His collages - be it digital or analogue - are an important aspect of his creative work. They follow, in general, the same visual idea as his paintings. Here, it is the process of collecting and perusing, of combining and sectioning, of mixing colours, textures and forms that form the result: to create something new from already existing material, to transform it and give it a new meaning, to reflect the issues of contemporary life – be it on a grand scale or very personal.
From 2012 on he participated in various solo and group exhibitions, taking his work through Germany and the Netherlands.
Chris Wehrmann lives and works in Kaarst near Düsseldorf.
